Mobile Mission Team – Young missionaries sharing life and faith on the road

This year, thanks to the prayer and financial partnership of many faithful supporters, YFC has a Mobile Mission Team travelling around Australia. Their mission is to simply following God’s leading to connect with local Christians in reaching the lost and equipping and encouraging others to do the same.

The team consists of five missionaries (and one toddler) who have each sacrificed the comforts of home in obedience to God’s call to spend the year on mission and in community together on the road.

The Mobile Mission Team: Nathan, Jo, Mat, Isaac, Emily and little Heidi. With your support they have stepped out in response to God's call –sacrificing the comforts of home to spend the year on mission and in community together on the road.

“God spoke to all of us individually”, shares Emily. “For me, it was seeing different towns who were contacting YFC and asking for help that started me thinking ‘who’s going to go?’ and God reminded me ‘you are the church’ and I knew He was calling me to step out.”

Emily’s husband and team leader Isaac had a similar prompting.

There’s only so much relationship that can happen on Zoom

“Last year I was adapting with lockdown like everyone else and moving our training tools online,” he shares.

“But there’s only so much relationship that can happen on Zoom and Christians are called into relational community with one another. And I really felt the Lord tell me ‘Isaac, I want you to go to people like Paul did.’”

“As we’ve gone we’ve been able to work out community among ourselves and share that with others – connecting with Christians to encourage and equip them in evangelism and discipleship.”

Spiritually I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m learning so much every day.

Departing from Bendigo, Victoria, in February the team spent several months based in Adelaide before travelling across the Nullabour to Perth.

“It’s definitely been challenging – spiritually, emotionally, relationally and physically –  but also incredibly growing and rewarding,” shares Emily.

“It’s amazing how you adapt. Some of us have condensed our lives down to three tubs and one of them we left behind as we still didn’t need as much as we thought we did!”

“Spiritually I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m learning so much every day. My faith increases daily. His hand is in everything whether I see it yet or not, and we’ve seen Him working through so many situations that my expectation to see Him do it again increases.”
